James Jackson / Data Culture and AI Lead at Hiscox

The unusual combination is the point.

Transformation provides organisational depth. Data provides evidence. Design makes change understandable. AI gives those disciplines a new place to converge.

Who I am

I am Data Culture and AI Lead at Hiscox and have spent 18 years inside complicated organisations: leading transformation, running services, governing data, designing education and building digital systems.

I work with data because change without evidence is guesswork. I work with design because change people cannot understand does not happen. I build games and prototypes because sometimes the fastest way to understand a system is to enter it and make a decision.

AI now brings those strands together at a different scale. My current work helps organisations move beyond adding tools to old processes and start redesigning the work itself.

How the work connects

Transformation

Years of organisational leadership provide the context: services, governance, budgets, adoption, competing priorities and implementation.

Data

Data governance, regulatory work, analytics, ERP and data-warehouse programmes add discipline to the models and claims beneath a project.

Education

Qualification design, AI literacy and international leader development shape how complex ideas become usable capability.

Design and code

Visual practice and working prototypes make a proposition tangible enough for people to test and challenge.
