James shares key insight on how Shaw Education Trust launched a device strategy through co-operation with all Heads in order to bring the devices to the students as each site was ready, rather than imposing a strategy that sites may not be ready for.
He championed the use of iPads and their accessibility features to significantly enhance the learning experiences of students with special educational needs, particularly those with visual impairments and phonetic learning challenges. His forward-thinking approach has allowed for greater personalisation in education, reducing barriers like cultural capital and promoting inclusivity.
Under his leadership, the success of these initiatives inspired a call to rethink traditional schooling models and boldly leverage technology to create more effective and inclusive learning environments for all students, especially those with additional needs.
